Homegrown Reading Series features Carol Coffee Reposa, and the Don’t Tease the Elephants release with Jen Knox

carol imageOn March 26, 2014 San Antonio College, in conjunction with Voices de la Luna, will host Carol Coffee Reposa  as the first event in their “Home Grown” Reading Series. Carol Coffee Reposa has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize in poetry, and has twice been a finalist for Texas Poet Laureate. She is Professor Emeritus of San Antonio College, and  is also a three-time Fulbright-Hays Fellow for study in Russia, Peru, Ecuador, and Mexico. The evening will run from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. and will take place in the San Antonio College Library’s Literary Performance Area (LPA). The event will open with a reading from poets Elisa Nodine, Paul Byers, and Dexter Gilford.

jen knox 1On March 29, San Antonio College will host the release party for Don’t Tease the Elephants, the new chapbook from Jen Knox. Jen’s writing has won the Global Short Story Competition and was chosen for Wigleaf’s 2012 Top 50. Two of her stories have received Finalist status for Glimmer Train competitions and three of her stories have received honorable mention. Her chapbook, The Aquarium, earned finalist status in the Black Lawrence Press’s 2012 Black River Chapbook competition. The release will run from 3:00-4:45 p.m. in SAC Library’s Literary Performance Area.

Both events are free and open to the public.

Carol Coffee Reposa reading and book signing at Viva Books

carol image2On Tuesday, 18 February 2014, Viva Books will celebrate Underground Musicians, the fourth book of poetry by  San Antonio poet, Carol Coffee Reposa. Along with having written three other poetry collections, Carol Coffee Reposa has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize in poetry, and has twice been a finalist for Texas Poet Laureate. She is Professor Emeritus of San Antonio College, and  is also a three-time Fulbright-Hays Fellow for study in Russia, Peru, Ecuador, and Mexico. The event will run from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Viva Books at Mini Mansions, 8407 Broadway, San Antonio TX. The evening will feature a reading followed by a book signing, and is free and open to the public.
